KIC InnoEnergy launches the Iberdrola Energy Challenge

13/01/2016
Iberdrola, the number one energy group in Spain and the fourth largest utility company in the world by market cap, has selected KIC InnoEnergy to launch a new energy challenge for KIC InnoEnergy students and alumni. The main objective is to encourage the students to promote a new sustainable and self-energy efficient society.

The purpose of this “challenge-driven education” activity is to create new responses to Europe’s energy challenges, with the participation of Iberdrola. Both institutions are looking for innovative and disruptive ideas to be developed in the energy sector, and the ability to execute a commercialisation strategy on a large scale.

The students may create a group (between 2 and 4 people) or work individually to develop their project in one of these topics: global affordable energy, new digital models in energy and social economy for affordable energy.

The three first winner projects will receive a cash prize of €4000, €2000 and €1000, respectively. Iberdrola -Perseo- will evaluate the possibility to offer the winning projects an internship or a job position at Iberdrola or one of its supported start-ups. More good ideas out of the 3 top ones may be considered by Iberdrola to be developed as MSc thesis positions or fast track access to investment.
