Project:
SLIM
Programme:
H2020
Period:
2016-2020
Sector:
MINING
01
The Challenge:

SLIM aims to minimize the impact of mineral extractive techniques on mines of small deposits, including deposits of high chemical complexity or low mineral quality.

02
Solutions:

The project has focused on the introduction of technological advances to minimize the impact and eliminate risks, as well as the consideration of the economic, social and environmental dimensions of the mines in order to reach agreements with local populations. SLIM includes a broad package of Social Innovation actions that will include dialogue, as well as information and participation processes with the communities involved and key social actors.

03
Impacts:

Among other aspects, SLIM is expected to improve the efficiency of mining activity by 25%, reduce vibrations and derived noise by 20-25%, cut energy consumption by 20% and decrease greenhouse gases by 10%.
