The actions of the project will help companies and start-ups to avoid the obstacles they encounter when they try to develop strategies for the use and exploitation of data.

This project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement Nº 779790

01
The Challenge:

EDI will empower emerging companies and SMEs to use tools to solve complex challenges in different businesses. In order to achieve it, 15 organizations that also participate in the project will make their data available. In this way applications and solutions will be developed with these resources.

02
Solutions:
EDI will help European SMEs and start-ups with a high computing and storage infrastructure hosted in the cloud based on open technologies; with training and advice in the best known tools of Big Data and in the creation of business for the development of viable ideas; as well as with financing. The finalists will have access to up to 100,000 euros. Likewise, support and training services will be offered for the improvement of business plans, Big Data tools, and will facilitate contact with investors. ZABALA will be in charge of the management of three open calls for SMEs and start-ups, including their publication, evaluation, monitoring and analysis of results
03
Impacts:

EDI will support to reverse Europe's role in the global market of companies that exploit Big Data, "where only two of the top 20 global companies are European."

In addition to direct financing, EDI aims to achieve more than 15,000,000 € in additional investments for selected SMEs and start-ups.

"EDI is one of the best open innovation opportunities for start-ups and organizations with data in Europe"
