It is nowadays unquestionable the importance and impact that data have in the European economy, industry, and society. According to the European Data Market Monitoring Tool, i) data products and services have a high penetration in the domestic economy so that the benefits from using data and introducing innovation are widespread, ii) companies adopting data products and services have greater benefits than companies in other countries, iii) the introduction and diffusion of new technologies - like data technologies – is likely to provide immediate and sizeable impacts to those economies that are relatively new adopters of innovation.
The EUHubs4Data project federates Big Data DIHs, leveraging existing initiatives and coalesces them into an integrated ecosystem to stimulate greater participation of European SMEs and start-ups in the data economy. By providing easy, cross-border access to datasets, facilitating data sharing and assisting them with the skills, tools and support, new innovative data-driven solutions and business models that are aligned with users’ needs will be developed, thereby improving their digital competitiveness as well as the satisfaction of end users.
