The Future and Emerging Technologies (FET) programme has been intensively stimulating FET researchers and FET community to the foundation and consolidation of the next promising technologies by conducting high-risk, long-term, multidisciplinary and collaborative frontier research. The Horizon2020 FET Programme has provided support to technological research projects, representing the incubator of new ideas and themes for long-term research and breakthrough innovation in diverse and undiscovered areas of the Information and Communication Technologies, Material Sciences, Physical and Chemical Sciences, Biotechnologies and Health, Energy and Environmental Engineering, etc.
FETFX expects to strengthen globally the European leadership in the early exploration of visionary, new and emerging technologies with a strong engagement of scientists, citizens, innovators and policy makers. It also wants to improve long-term innovation potential in Europe. There is an abundance of novel ideas and a wide range of actors ready to take them forward across Europe, but it is necessary to engage in interdisciplinary research collaboration and to take up responsible R&I practices (education, gender, long-term societal, ethical and legal implications).
