The Annual Compilations of new LIFE projects are now online. From the 2015 call for proposals, the European Commission is investing over €220 million in 144 green and low-carbon projects in Member States.
The FIWARE Foundation is now open for new members. This is just great news indeed! During the past years I had the chance to lead a wonderful team of partners into what it was a new adventure for the European Commission through the Future Internet PPP. Phase 3 they called it, the accelerators.
INEA signed grant agreements with 14 projects selected for funding in the Smart Cities and Communities and Smart Grids and Storage topics of the 2016 Low-Carbon Energy call. They will receive in total €135 million from the EU's Horizon 2020 programme to develop new clean energy solutions.
Günther H. Oettinger, Commissioner for the Digital Economy and Society presented the 2016 Digital Skills Awards. Winners were selected from 258 projects in four categories, focusing on how to boost digital skills in the labour force, in education, amongst ICT professionals and for all citizens.

The 2016 EU Industrial R&D Investment Scoreboard, published by the European Commission, shows that EU companies invested €188.3bn in Research & Development (R&D) in the fiscal year 2015/2016. This constitutes an annual increase of 7.5% which puts EU companies ahead of the global (6.6%) and US (5.9%) trends.
The European Commission has announced the 12 members of the new High Level Group that will formulate a vision for future EU research and innovation and make recommendations on maximising the impact of EU investments in this area. The group is chaired by Pascal Lamy, President Emeritus of the Jacques Delors Institute.
