The European Commission (DG R&I) has launched an open consultation on the development of a comprehensive, integrated Research, Innovation, and Competitiveness Strategy for the Energy Union. The Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA) has received 427 project proposals by the 16 February 2016 deadline for the 2015 CEF Transport Calls for Proposals, requesting €12.96 billion in total EU funding. The European Investment Fund (EIF) and Norrlandsfonden, have signed a guarantee agreement to increase lending to innovative small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and small mid-caps in Sweden. The European Investment Bank (EIB) and Bankia signed this morning a EUR 500 million loan contract designed to facilitate access to credit for SMEs and midcaps. Bankia will match the loan with a further EUR 500 million, meaning that a total of EUR 1 billion will be made available for financing Spanish businesses under this agreement.
