The CIRCUSOL project (Circular Business Models for the Solar Energy Industry) is a new European initiative funded by the Horizon 2020 Programme. Its main objective is to boost the solar energy sector as a leading model in the circular economy through business models based on Product-Service Systems (PSS).
The main challenge of Circusol’s project is to efficiently utilise resources for the growth of the solar energy sector to create a key circular economic model, stimulating resource efficiency and reducing waste generation.
Deliver tangible innovations for the solar energy industry with market validated PSS business models, second life PV certificates and battery labelling/certification and cost/application analysis; as well as business cases and an ICT platform to share and manage information. The project will make 5 large scale real-life demonstrators, set up in 3 different market segments, in 3 European countries (France, Belgium and Switzerland) to validate market acceptance, commercial viability and resource efficiency.
The impact of this project of this project will achieve a sustainable, low carbon, resource efficient and competitive economy; and contribute to a more resource efficient Europe, while reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and thus also creating new business and employment opportunities.
This project has been funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme, under grant agreement No. 776680.
“Circusol will be a driver of new business models in the European circular economy, through a key sector for innovation, job creation and energy transition”
