Bilbao OfficeGuillermo Dorronsoro has a long and outstanding career in the field of innovation. He participates as a member of several Boards of Directors of private and public organisations, linked to the field of competitiveness, innovation and sustainable development (Bilbao Stock Exchange, ALBOAN Foundation, Unesco Center of the Basque Country). He is also a member of the AMETIC Expert Group on the impact of digitisation of the industrial sector in Spain.
Guillermo Dorronsoro works at Zabala’s office in Bilbao, but from there he collaborates with all teams and office, participating in tasks related to innovation management, institutional relations, business development and support in studies and tenders related to R&D&I promotion policies. He remains linked to Deusto Business School, where he is currently Professor of Economics, Strategy and Innovation Management.
With a PhD in Industrial Engineering, he has developed a professional career in business, linked to strategy and promotion/management of new technology-based businesses, initially as a strategic consultant and then as an executive in global corporations in the energy and information technology sectors (Accenture, Iberdrola, EDP/Naturgas, Socintec/Indra, Ibermática).
He has also been General Manager and later, member of the Board of Directors of Informática de Euskadi (joint venture BBK – Accenture that developed the current IT system of Kutxabank), and Director of several advanced services companies (Pridesa, Kristina Internet Business Solutions, Aesol, Cromion, Matikanet…),
He has actively participated in the transformation of the Science and Technology System in the Basque Country, as Executive Vice President of the IK4 Technology Alliance and General Director of Technological Innovation of the Basque Innovation Agency. In this capacity, he was also founder and president of the Energy Technology Centre, set up by Iberdrola, the Mondragon Corporation and the Basque Government.
He has also participated in governing bodies several institutions linked to the economic and social field, both in the field of Bizkaia (CEBEK), Gipuzkoa (Gipuzkoa Berritzen) and the Basque Country (Economic and Social Council, Advisory Council for External Action of the Basque Government.
Between 2012 and 2018, he was Dean of Deusto Business School, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Basque Institute of Competitiveness, the Board of Directors of the University of Deusto and the International Association of Jesuit Business Schools. He currently continues to teach several subjects in the field of Economics and Innovation Management in Undergraduate, Master and Executive Education programmes for several IBEX 35 companies. He was also Academic Director of the Master in Business Innovation, jointly taught by Deusto Business School and Judge Business School (Cambridge University). In 2018, he received the distinction of Honorary Associate in Deusto Business Alumni.
