ZABALA will present two reports on funding instruments and industry needs on the 30th of September.
This month, two reports produced by Zabala for the SMARTSPEND project are being released and are now available on the SMARTSPEND website. These reports are the results of some of the activities undertaken in the project’s Work Package “Further define adequate financial strategies” in which European funding instruments for clean energy innovation are reviewed, promoted and matched against industry’s needs.
Below is a summary of these two reports:
This report provides a mapping on public and private funding instruments for energy innovation, which can support energy technology R&I. The guide provides an outlook of the available trans-national, national and regional funding instruments, in order to support the coordination of the industrial participation in the SET Plan. The SMARTSPEND partners are industry-driven associations and initiatives such as the European Technology and Innovation platforms (ETIPs), European Joint Technology Initiatives or other relevant public-private partnerships identified in the 13 non-nuclear SET Plan implementation plans.
The report takes into consideration the need for financial contributions from public and private funding sources at different levels and analyses the main constraints (bureaucratic, administrative, legal) which can compromise the regular execution of R&I activities and implementation of the SET Plan. A better understanding of the industries’ views and concerns was developed with reference to potential measures and improvements in the fields of funding mechanisms, project management, funding applications, budget and reporting, amongst others.
The reports will be presented on the 30th of September 2020 during the Online Workshop “Financing Clean Energy Transition in the Context of EU Recovery” in which ZABALA will be introducing the two reports’ main findings. The SMARTSPEND Online Workshop will bridge investors and clean energy innovators, bringing clarifications on the access to EU funding in the recovery period of Europe.
SMARTSPEND is a Horizon2020 project that seeks to coordinate the efforts of industry, national governments and European institutions in investing in clean energy research and development. ZABALA is a leader of exploitation.
