Blockchers 2nd Open Call is open for registration
Starting on January 13th, European SMEs can boost their business products and services thanks to the opportunities offered by Blockchers
The new European Technology and Innovation Platform on Batteries has just launched. Bringing together private and public actors and industrial and research stakeholders throughout the whole value chain of the sector, its aim is to be the driving force behind Europe’s ambitions in the field of batteries.

By enhancing support for research and innovation on all types of battery technologies, the new platform will consolidate the industrial basis for this sector in Europe, creating new growth opportunities and new jobs.
The Director General of the Commission’s Energy department, Dominique Ristori, said:
The EU does not just want to be a consumer of batteries, it wishes to become a market leader, a sector worth up to €250 billion by 2025. For this, the key is research and innovation, and I am convinced this new platform will make Europe become a world leader on batteries and storage. The economic interest at stake is enormous and the role and importance of these technologies will increase significantly in the future. To be at the forefront of this revolution, we need to consolidate the industrial basis for batteries in our continent, including all battery technologies.
Organised within the Clean Energy Industrial Forum of the 2019 Industry Days, the launch event took stock of progress on all aspects of EU policy on batteries. The discussion was co-organised by the EU Battery Alliance, InnoEnergy, and Transport & Environment. Petri Peltonen, Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment of Finland, was the guest speaker, and representatives of key companies in the sector -Umicore, NorthVolt and Renault- also participated.
