H2020 Energy: 112 M€ for energy efficiency
The 2019 call for funding H2020 energy efficiency projects will close on 3 September. In addition, Brussels just hosted the #H2020Energy Info Days from 25 to 27 June.

The European initiative celebrates the 6th of April its final event after five years
After five years of technology developments and testing processes, ROMEO Project is preparing its ending point, which will consist of a workshop as part of the programme of the next edition of the Wind Europe 2022 congress. The European initiative, backed by the Horizon 2020 programme, will celebrate this final event the 6th of April at 9:00 AM with an overview of the innovative solutions that have been optimised during the lifetime of the project for the reduction of the O&M costs of offshore wind farms.
Zabala Innovation is one of the twelve partners that form the project consortium. It is the leader of WP 9 dedicated to Communication and Dissemination. And in such a high-profile event like this one, where the innovative results of five years of the project will be shown, Zabala Innovation is key in the organisation of the session.
During the workshop, named as “Condition based maintenance strategies in offshore wind for extended lifetime and cost reduction”, it will be described how predictive maintenance strategies for wind turbine generators (WTG) and offshore substructures, together with the use of new technologies such as digital twins and IoT platforms, can considerably reduce the O&M costs, especially in offshore wind farms.
Furthermore, the results of their application in three emblematic wind farms (Wikinger, East Anglia ONE and Teesside) will be shared as well. These locations have been the three demo sites of ROMEO since the beginning of the project.
The session will take place in the framework of WindTalks for Innovation during Wind Europe 2022 and with the support of the Basque Energy Cluster – Wind Energy Basque Country.
The new edition of Wind Europe Annual Conference and Exhibition will take place between the 5th and 7th of April at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre (BEC) from Bilbao, Spain. The congress will gather the most relevant representatives of the offshore and onshore wind industry. All the details related to the event can be found on Wind Europe’s website.
ROMEO Project (Reliable OM decision tools and strategies for high LCoE reduction on offshore wind) is an initiative backed by the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 programme and its consortium is formed by several European partners: Iberdrola, Siemens Gamesa, EDF, RAMBOLL, IBM Research – Zurich, MINSAIT INDRA, BACHMANN Monitoring, LAULAGUN Bearings, UPTIME Engineering, University of Strathclyde and Zabala Innovation.

Europe offers many opportunities to support and foster Research, Development and Innovation actions. Competition is high and being well positioned among stakeholders active in each sector requires a well thought-out plan of action and an active way of promoting visibility in Brussels.
Zabala Innovation assists private and public players in their search for and acquisition of public funding and has developed a methodology for accompanying and supporting national and European project coordinators.
To maximise the success and impact of a project, we manage the communication and dissemination activities, but we also define a social innovation strategy and tools to measure its impact.
