“Regions that do not innovate will be lost”
We interviewed Javier Lahuerta, leader of Zabala Innovation's Regions Area
KNOWLEDGE AREA LEADERS
“Social innovation is an essential tool for gaining competitive advantages”, says Leire Martiarena, leader of the Social Innovation area
“To develop ideas, methodologies or services that respond more efficiently to the needs of society. This is how the European Commission defines social innovation”, explains Leire Martiarena, leader of the knowledge area in this field at Zabala Innovation. “This requires the collaboration of the public and private sectors and also of all citizens,” she adds.
Convinced that social innovation is “the perfect instrument for promoting innovation that is both sustainable and responsible”, Martiarena points out the two lines of work in which the activity of her knowledge area is developed. On the one hand, Zabala Innovation supports “the development of innovation proposals on social issues”, and on the other, it helps to “integrate the social dimension into even the most technological projects”.
“Social innovation is an essential tool that helps us to position ourselves and obtain competitive advantages in the markets”, concludes Martiarena.
In the following video, Leire Martiarena explains the work carried out in the knowledge area that she leads:
