In light of the Strategic Energy Plan (SET Plan) revision, and based on the REPowerEU targets, the SET Plan Implementation Working Group (IWG6) on Industry has to refine the priorities and needs of the process industry, its R&I targets, and the emerging policy priorities. A new methodology will also be delivered to monitor and revise its Implementation Plan.
SET-IndEU will support and strengthen the activities of the IWG6, fostering the engagement of the European energy-intensive industry community, developing synergies and facilitating the dialogue between the EC, the SET Plan countries and stakeholders to identify and address the actions needed to progress on the activities outlined in the Implementation Plan. The alignment of EU and national R&I priorities in the areas of energy-intensive industry will also be facilitated.
A successful implementation of the SET-IndEU project will enable the EC and the SET Plan IWG6 to prioritise sustainable and efficient energy demand in the EU process industry, increasing synergies between industry and research, and among Member States. The focus on its electrification, increased circularity and deep renewable energy integration, will result at the same time in positive effects on its competitiveness and on the EU employment and skills market.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe Research and Innovation programme under Grant Agreement Nº 101123100.
“A successful implementation of the SET-IndEU project will enable the EC and the SET Plan IWG6 to prioritise sustainable and efficient energy demand in the EU process industry”
