Digital Europe
€8.1 Billion Budget

Digital Europe programme aims to enhance the EU's strategic digital capabilities and promote the widespread use of digital technologies. It supports transformative projects across various sectors, aiming to bring digital technology to businesses, enhance public services, and enrich citizens' lives.

The digital
transformation

The Digital Europe program aims to build important skills and capabilities in key digital technologies to strengthen the EU’s strategic independence. It also focuses on speeding up the use of these technologies and making the most of them in both public and private sectors. The program supports projects in six main areas:

High performance computing

Deploy world-class exascale, post-exascale supercomputing and quantum computing capabilities to ensure broad access and usage across Europe.

Artificial intelligence

Create common data spaces across the EU using a cloud-to-edge system and support the testing and use of AI technologies with a European AI platform and state-of-the-art testing facilities.

Cybersecurity and trust

Develop advanced cybersecurity capabilities, including a quantum secure communication infrastructure for Europe and promote widespread use and best practices.

Advanced digital skills

Improve education and training in key digital areas like supercomputing, cybersecurity, and AI. This will be done through collaboration between universities, research centers, and innovative businesses.

European Digital Innovation Hubs

Establish European digital innovation hubs to help organizations with their digital transformation. Enhance interoperability to address major issues like climate change or improvement of public services.

Semiconductors

Advance in semiconductor  design capabilities, expand pilot lines for next-generation technologies, enhance quantum chip development, and establish competence centers.
