WORLD SCIENCE DAY
Our Vigo office in Spain celebrated World Science Day for Peace and Development with a Kahoot quiz about knowledge, innovation and teamwork

Every year on 10 November, UNESCO invites us to celebrate World Science Day for Peace and Development — a date that highlights the essential role of science in building fairer, more sustainable and cooperative societies. At Zabala Innovation, we joined in from our Vigo office with a special day combining learning, humour and team spirit.
At Zabala Innovation, we work with science every day. We support companies, universities and technology centres in R&D projects that apply knowledge to improve people’s lives — whether through clean energy, health, digitalisation or the blue economy.
This link between knowledge and sustainable development gives meaning to our work and to this World Day, which reminds us how science contributes to peace, progress and collective well-being.
“Celebrating this day reminds us that science is not only in laboratories but also in collaboration and in the curiosity we share as a team,” said Fernando de Uña, Director of the Galicia office.
From Vigo, we take part in European projects focused on marine research, sustainability and industrial innovation, making this office a tangible example of how science translates into real results. As De Uña noted, “we live science every day through cooperation and the talent of the people who make these projects possible.”
To celebrate, the team organised a Kahoot quiz with questions about science, innovation and Galician culture — the perfect excuse to share knowledge and enjoy a fun moment together.
The questions ranged from the history of UNESCO and the principles of open science to more specific topics such as European programmes promoting scientific cooperation — including Horizon Europe and LIFE — or projects in which Zabala Innovation is involved from Vigo.
Besides testing memory and creativity, the Kahoot also highlighted milestones of scientific knowledge in Galicia, such as the work of physicist Ramón María Aller Ulloa or the marine science research led by the University of Vigo.
“The best way to celebrate science is by sharing what we know and learning from others, just as we do in our projects,” added De Uña.

Beyond the game, the goal of the day was to recognise science as a force that connects people, ideas and projects. Science, like innovation, thrives when shared. And at Zabala Innovation, we believe cooperation is the best way to build a more sustainable and peaceful future.
This initiative is part of Zabala Innovation’s internal activities to mark International Days related to sustainability, innovation and well-being.
From Vigo — and from all our offices across Europe — we continue to champion science as a tool to improve the world, connect talent and turn ideas into real impact.

A comprehensive outlook to align your projects with the EU’s new financial framework
Europe offers many opportunities to support and foster Research, Development and Innovation actions. Competition is high and being well positioned among stakeholders active in each sector requires a well thought-out plan of action and an active way of promoting visibility in Brussels.
Zabala Innovation assists private and public players in their search for and acquisition of public funding and has developed a methodology for accompanying and supporting national and European project coordinators.
To maximise the success and impact of a project, we manage the communication and dissemination activities, but we also define a social innovation strategy and tools to measure its impact.
