Furthermore, the European open innovation landscape suffers from fragmentation and isolation, with initiatives and organizations operating independently and a lack of collaboration between stakeholders and sustainable funding models for open innovation.

SOLUTION

To address these challenges, there is a pressing need to establish a participatory methodology that brings together industry, academia, and society to drive significant scientific advancements in key AI domains and ensure the widespread adoption of these advancements to enhance Europe’s competitiveness. Open innovation competitions have emerged as a successful approach in promoting innovation, attracting talent, and securing capital in various fields. Initiatives like the AI-BOOST project aim to establish a prominent open challenge prize program that serves as a benchmark for the European AI community.
