Antonio Barrios is a lawyer and European funding consultant with extensive experience in managing and drafting proposals for programmes such as LIFE, Horizon Europe, Interreg, Innovation Fund, and NextGenEU, among others. He holds a Master’s in Legal Practice, an MBA, and degrees in Law and Business Administration.
His professional career has enabled him to build solid expertise in identifying and accessing public funding opportunities, as well as in legal and strategic consulting. He has managed numerous calls for proposals and projects, working with a wide range of entities, from SMEs to public administrations.
Currently, as a consultant at Zabala Innovation, specifically in the European Projects area, he applies his legal and economic insight to provide comprehensive advice to both public and private sector clients seeking support for their projects. He serves as technical lead for Next Generation EU calls at the local government level and for the European Urban Initiative (EUI) programme. He also helps design and lead the commercial strategy for the Regions and Cities area at Zabala Innovation, focusing on territorial development and urban innovation. His role as an Independent Expert Evaluator for the European partnership Driving Urban Transitions (DUT) reflects his strong specialisation in sustainable urban transitions.
