Marcos Jareño is a civil engineer specialised in the areas of transport and urban services. He joined Zabala Innovation in 2016 as an innovation consultant in the Brussels office; where he provides EU positioning services to large corporations, mainly focused on the industrial and energy sectors, analysing the different trends and action lines in R & D & I in the different EU funding programmes. Since 2017, he has been preparing and coordinating EU project proposals for different organisations in diverse fields, mainly focused on the area of energy and sustainability.
Marcos has extensive experience in managing EU initiatives. Since he joined Zabala, he has been actively involved in SINFONIA – a 6-year large-scale (€ 43M) Smart Cities project funded by EC DG Energy, that implemented integrated, adaptable and large-scale energy solutions in medium-sized European. For 4 years, Marcos acted as coordinator of the project office, in charge of the administrative and financial management.
As of mid-2020 Marcos is the coordinator of BRIDGE, a EC DG Energy initiative that brings together the energy projects funded in the areas of Smart Grids, Energy storage, Islands and Digitization to support the EC to create a structured vision of cross-cutting issues raised in the implementation of the different projects.
