Sérgio Almeida holds a master’s degree in Micro and Nanotechnology Engineering from the Faculty of Science and Technology at NOVA University Lisbon, with a specialisation in functional materials applied to biomimetics, tissue engineering, and biocompatible materials.

He began his career at one of Portugal’s leading research centres, CENIMAT/i3N, contributing to projects in bone regeneration, atmospheric water harvesting, and bioactive coatings. He currently works as a consultant for European project at Zabala Innovation’s Lisbon office, focusing on the preparation and management of proposals for programmes such as Horizon Europe, LIFE, and the Innovation Fund.
