CAPACITY FOR INNOVATION
Zabala's role was crucial in supporting the leader in executing interviews with the various stakeholders involved, designing the strategic workshops and analysing the information available mainly for Spain.

The objective of this project was to support the Eurorégion Pyrénées-Méditerranée with the development of the new Euroregional RIS3, as part of an action integrated in the KISS ME project, which aims to strengthen the innovation capacity of SMEs by comparing approaches from different participating regions, exchanging tools to reach SMEs and improving regulatory instruments.
The main objective was to make innovation a priority for all regions. The RIS3 supports growth and the creation of knowledge-based jobs, not only in the main research and innovation centres, but also in rural and less developed regions. The RIS3 is a key element of the proposed reform of the EU Cohesion Policy, supporting thematic concentration and strengthening strategic programming and performance orientation.
The Euroregion aims to “become the main hub of innovation and sustainable growth in south-west Europe” and to become a resilient territory by 2030. The Euroregion seeks to create, in the north-east of the Mediterranean, a pole of sustainable development based on the social, environmental, cultural, and economic integration of the territory.
