The main objective of the BLOCKCHERS project is to make it easier for blockchain technologies to reach traditional SMEs in Europe by expanding their business models and facilitating collaboration with other companies.
Traditional SMEs need support and knowledge for digitisation to improve their competitiveness by reaching more customers and building their trust. Currently, costs are higher for these companies, because they face more impediments to benefit from economies of scale. Without overcoming these obstacles, SMEs find it more difficult to obtain the financing they need to grow and innovate.
BLOCKCHERS offers the opportunity to facilitate the use of distributed ledger technologies (DLTs) in traditional SMEs. In addition, the project will offer the possibility to access the first DLT network legally created by ALASTRIA, backed by large corporations and public administration. Through two open calls for proposals, equity-free funding (750,000 €) will be offered to cover the implementation of these networks in SMEs from different sectors.
BLOCKCHERS will allow 60 SMEs to benefit from these two open calls, of which 30 will have greater recognition and will participate in the main events of the sector. In addition, 4 SMEs will be awarded and selected as best-case studies. In addition, BLOCKCHERS will enable hundreds of key players and potential SME customers to adopt DLTs technologies, once they have been tested and demonstrated benefits.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme, under grant agreement No. 828840.
“BLOCKCHERS will facilitate the arrival of blockchain technologies to traditional SMEs and collaboration with other companies to boost the creation of economies of scale and access to investment and financing.”
