Sérgio Vilela holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Aveiro (Portugal). After dedicating himself to scientific research for more than 10 years, mainly to the preparation of hybrid materials for application in different strategic and emerging social fields (energy, carbon dioxide capture, storage and conversion, catalysis), he joined the Zabala Innovation team, becoming an R&D&I consultant with the main objective of promoting and maximising Spanish and European innovation.
At Zabala Innovation he has participated in the preparation and management of R&D projects for small, medium and large companies, universities, research centres and foundations. He has been leader of the Knowledge Area of Universities and co-responsible for calls for proposals under Pillar I of the Horizon Europe programme.
He is currently responsible for a team that prepares proposals and manages projects for calls for large European programmes (H2020, HE, LIFE, Innovation Fund (large and small scale) and CEF, among others) mainly within the energy, environment, transport and logistics sectors
