Enlit Europe
From 22 to 24 October, Zabala Innovation will present key projects in this sector
Italy’s economic capital, Milan, will host Enlit Europe from 22 to 24 October, one of the most important events in the field of energy transition and technological solutions in Europe. This event will bring together companies, organisations, and experts in the sector to discuss and share progress and challenges related to sustainable energy, digitalisation, and technological innovation. In this context, Zabala Innovation will play a prominent role, showcasing several research and development projects at its own stand and during specific sessions.
The consultancy, which specialises in managing innovative projects, will present Data Cellar, Air4NRG, BeFlexible, and the ETIPs Forum, four R&D projects covering key aspects of Europe’s energy transition. Zabala Innovation will participate in the EU Project Zone, an area dedicated to EU-funded projects aimed at showcasing the latest research and development solutions in the energy field.
Zabala Innovation’s main stand, located in Pavilion 6.E10-S04, will showcase the Data Cellar, Air4NRG, and ETIPs Forum projects. Additionally, at the stand of Spanish energy company Iberdrola, in Zone 7E20-7F10, the BeFlexible project will be presented in collaboration with other companies and organisations involved in the initiative.
A session dedicated to the Data Cellar project will take place on 23 October 2024, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., in theatre 1 of the EU Projects Zone Hub (hall 6). Titled Energy data spaces, the session is organised by int:net in collaboration with related projects and will feature the project coordinator, Martina Galluccio. The session will cover the project’s initial progress and include a discussion on the next steps. One of the key points will be the presentation of the project’s interoperability plan, followed by a discussion among representatives of the extended project cluster.
On the same day, starting at 10:15 a.m. for an hour in theatre 2 of the same zone, the session on the Air4NRG project will take place under the title Storage technologies. Although details on the accompanying projects have not yet been fully released, it has been confirmed that Air4NRG will be represented either by the project coordinator, María Laura Trifiletti, also a consultant at Zabala Innovation, or by David Guyomarch, technical coordinator at Segula, one of the project partners. The session will focus on energy storage technologies, a crucial aspect of the transition to a more flexible and sustainable energy system.
Another session on Zabala Innovation’s agenda will take place on 22 October from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., also in theatre 2 of hall 6. This session will focus on the European technology and innovation platforms Forum under the title ETIPs as catalysts for EU sustainable competitiveness. It will be moderated by Alessandro Provaggi, Director of Zabala Innovation’s Brussels office, and will feature various platforms such as Best, ETIP Wind, ETIP Hydro, and ETIP PV.
The panel will explore the role of these platforms as catalysts for the EU’s sustainable competitiveness, highlighting their ability to channel the most promising research and innovation solutions from academia and industry towards the European Commission. The discussion will also address strategies to optimise the role of ETIPs in promoting technological solutions that can be produced within the EU without relying on critical raw materials, thus strengthening technological sovereignty and European competitiveness.
On 23 October, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., the session on the BeFlexible project will be held, titled Rethinking flexibility markets: what’s the secret to navigating regulatory challenges and customer needs? This session will be moderated by Zabala Innovation’s Head of Institutional Relations in Brussels, Susana Garayoa, and will feature associated projects such as Enflate and Stream, as well as Charles Esser, Secretary General of the E.DSO distribution operators’ association. The session will focus on how flexibility markets can adapt to new regulatory challenges and consumer needs, addressing topics such as smart grid connectivity, consumer participation, and the necessary incentives to encourage their involvement in the transition to a more flexible and dynamic energy market.
Finally, the NESOI project coordinator, who is also the leader of the European Projects Dissemination and Communication area at Zabala Innovation, Janire García, will moderate two sessions. The first, to be held in theatre 2 of hall 6 on 23 October from 15:45 to 17:15, will focus on projects recently financed by the European Commission in the field of sustainable energy. The second, scheduled for 24 October from 10:00 to 11:30 in theatre 1, will address new technologies and renewable energy sources.
