Leonardo Casado

Leonardo Casado has a degree in industrial chemical engineering from the University of Valladolid and complemented his career with two master’s degrees. The first was based on the integrated management of occupational risk prevention, quality and the environment at the University of Valladolid. The second focused on R&D&I management within the framework of the GESTIDI 2010 Programme led by the regional government of the Junta de Castilla y León. In addition, he has participated in the publication of articles, as a speaker in more than 15 national and international conferences and is co-inventor of three patents with a high impact index. He has also worked in a leading company in the solar photovoltaic sector for building integrated solutions, ONYX SOLAR. For almost 4 years, he played the role of head of the R&D Department through the management of relevant projects in areas such as Energy Efficiency, Low Carbon Technologies, smart cities and technology-based SMEs, among others. At the same time, he was Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Renewable Energy Cluster CYL SOLAR, leading the strategic lines of R&D&I and business development strategies at a regional level. He also worked in Innovalia Association as Project Manager through his participation in projects linked to the topics of ICT, FoF, NMP, ITEA and similar programmes. Today, at Zabala Innovation, Leonardo Casado is Senior R&D&I Consultant and Project Manager in the framework of European, national and regional programmes. He participates as a project proposal writer in H2020 topics, such as LCE, FTI, SME, NMBP or EeB and national programmes such as CDTI-PID, Retos de Colaboración or AECID. Finally, he is responsible for the SME Instrument Programme in the company. Leonardo Casado is also an evaluator for the REA of the European Commission, in projects from the FTI-2018 programme.
